Our aim is to create a safe, caring and healthy environment, where children can learn through play and develop new skills.
We provide a variety of activities and learning opportunities which will develop each individual child’s needs, interests and abilities.
Our curriculum is based on the Scottish Executive’s “Curriculum for Excellence” We also use “How Good is our Early Learning and Childcare” as a guidance document. These documents, along with other policies, are available for you to see at the Playgroup.
We offer many opportunities for children to freely choose from a broad range of activities and experiences planned by both the children, parents, carers and staff. We are aware that each child is unique, and develops at different times and stages. We aim to provide a curriculum that caters for everyone and we will build on the individual child’s previous knowledge and understanding. The purpose of the Curriculum for Excellence is to ensure that all young people become successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens. Our curriculum covers the following areas: Health and Wellbeing, Language and Literacy, Maths and Numeracy, Expressive Arts, Science, Technologies, Social Subjects and RME.
Each child will be allocated a key worker who will keep you informed of your child’s progress and update their personal learning journals, which they take with them to nursery.
If your child has any additional needs and you feel they may require additional support, it may be possible to apply for funding for a playfriend. Please speak to the Playgroup manager if this is required.
